Why Modular Sofas Are the Smart Choice for Renters

Renting makes you think about a couch twice: once for the apartment you're in, and again for the home you might move to. A modular layout can offer options, but only when the actual pieces support the changes you have in mind.

Start with a couch you want to use now. Then look at how you'll get it inside and what a later move would involve.

Make the current room work

Mark the couch's shape with your existing furniture nearby. Leave the entrance-to-kitchen route open, and check the corner where the chaise would reach.

Our 96-inch L-shaped couch combines regular seating with a chaise for stretching out. Use its finished dimensions and selected orientation in the plan. Decide whether that shape works before imagining extra sections or a different arrangement later.

If reconfiguration matters to you, ask which layouts and pieces are approved for that model. The word modular isn't enough to establish that you can reverse a chaise or add another section.

Plan the building part of the delivery

A compressed package gives you a carton to compare with the delivery route. Measure the clear doorways, stair turns, and elevator space, and check the package weight when arranging help.

Ask the property manager about delivery hours, elevator reservations, and where packages can be left. Those details can be more important on moving day than another inch of wall space.

The sectional measuring guide helps you record that route.

Think about the next move realistically

Once a compressed couch has expanded, plan to move it in its expanded form unless the manufacturer's instructions say otherwise. Its original carton doesn't establish that you can compress it again at home.

Keep the setup instructions and dimensions with your moving information. If the product supports separating pieces, use the approved method when planning a later route.

For now, choose a place you enjoy sitting in this apartment. You can leave the rug or side table until after the couch arrives, when you've seen where you put a drink and which path you use every day.
