5 Mistakes to Avoid When Buying a Cloud Couch Sectional

A soft-looking sectional can be easy to imagine in your home. It's harder to picture the corner outside your apartment door or the table that already fills the space beside the chaise. Before ordering, take a little time with those parts of the decision too.

1. Measuring the wall and stopping there

Measure the whole seating area, including the depth of the chaise. Mark the outline on the floor with the furniture you plan to keep nearby.

Next, follow the delivery route. Compare the narrow openings and turns with the exact package information. A couch can fit the room and still be difficult to carry through the stair landing. Our sectional measuring guide covers both checks.

2. Choosing the fabric only from a photo

Corduroy has visible ribs and a soft touch; a smooth weave will look different beside the same table or rug. Think about which texture you want to live with, then read its care directions.

If washable covers matter to you, confirm that feature for the selected product. A zip or seam visible in a photograph doesn't establish how the upholstery should be cleaned.

3. Expecting a style name to explain the construction

Words such as cloud-style suggest a lounging look, but they don't tell you what supports the cushions. Look for a clear description of the filling and support system.

Our 96-inch L-shaped couch pairs individually pocketed coils with high-density foam. Its chaise is useful if you like stretching out; compare the seat dimensions as well if you prefer to sit upright.

4. Picturing the chaise on the wrong side

Place the selected configuration in your room plan. Check the viewpoint used for left- or right-facing labels, and look at where the longer side reaches.

That end may be the seat you want most, but it also needs to leave room for the doorway or the cabinet nearby. Don't plan on reversing it later unless that option is confirmed for the model.

5. Reading the delivery and return terms too late

Check the current shipping information for your destination and the return terms before placing the order. Include any carrying help you arrange in your budget.

When it arrives, follow the setup and recovery instructions for that couch. Keep the packaging while you check the item, and contact support with photos if something is damaged or missing.
